Elevate! Daily Prayer Guide

Thank you for partnering with us in prayer. Together we will pray for our country's and India's leaders, first responders, believers and non-believers impacted by the virus; as well as for God's perfect outcome and glory in the midst of the storm and during our recovery from it.
2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, who are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

Turn to Jesus - Pentecost 2020 Prayer

On Pentecost, 2020, Ruth Graham Lotz called women of America "to join together in claiming God's promise...to pray with humility, unity, and sincerity...out of necessity." (because) "Our nation is in serious trouble."  The above video is excerpts from her call to women that apply to everyone who is burdened for our country during these troubled times. Below there is a link to the written prayer that you can read, download or print. This powerful, timely prayer is filled with scripture that will bless all who desire to pray for our nation.

Maureen, KGM Board Member & Prayer Team Leader shared:
We at Kerusomen Gospel Ministries always thank God when we pray for you, our partners, because we keep hearing about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all of God’s people, especially the unreached frontier peoples in India. And we are praying that you will continue to put into action the generosity that comes from your faith as you understand and experience all the good things we have in Christ. Your love has given us much joy and comfort, my brothers and sisters, for your kindness continues to refresh the hearts of God’s people. - Adapted from Philemon 4-7

A Prayer for Perspective (in our anxiety)

It seems that I return to you most easily when I need comfort, O God.

Hello… here I am again, knowing that you are waiting for me with love and warming light.
In the shadow of your wings I find respite and relief that feeds my innermost self and renews my soul. Day and night, you are my refuge.

These uncertain days of news conferences and quarantines tempt me to assume the worst for my loved ones, myself and my community. “Pandemic” is a frightening word, and I can easily feel confused or helpless to respond. Now I am relying on you to lead and guide me, to put my anxiety in its place. Help me see it as a human response that keeps me conscious of the seriousness of this moment, but do not let it overwhelm my spirit. Buoyed by your love, I choose each day to let peace reign in me. Breathing deeply of your calm, I repeat, again and again, “You are here.”

Good and gracious Companion, my family and friends need tranquility and assurance. Help me to offer them your tenderness. Those in my community who are suffering need care. Help me to be generous and to keep contact with the forgotten. Our world calls for cooperation among national leaders, scientists, health care providers, and all who are instrumental in overcoming this crisis. May my prayers and support be with them all.

I have come back to you, and I will return, knowing that your open arms will never fail. God of hope, may your love blanket the earth, as you teach us to live more generously today than yesterday. May my anxiety be transformed into love.

I love this! In honor of my brother, Scott, who is working overtime in an Amazon warehouse to bring us the supplies we need as we "stay in place." And kudos to all the other unsung heroes who clean the floors and streets, stock the shelves, drive the trucks, fix the electric and cable glitches so we can shelter in comfort and stay connected. We are so very grateful.

We'll Get Through This

I’m a garbageman, I can’t work from home and my job is an essential city service that must get done. It’s a tough job, from getting up pre-dawn to the physical toll it takes on my body, to the monotonous nature of the job, at times it’s hard to keep on going.

Us garbagemen are gonna keep collecting the garbage, doctors and nurses are gonna keep doctoring and nurse-ering. It’s gonna be ok, we’re gonna make it be ok. I love my city. I love my country. I love my planet Earth. Be good to each other and we’ll get through this.

Right now though, right now I am feeling an extra sense of pride and purpose as I do my work. I see the people, my people, of my city, peeking out their windows at me. They’re scared, we’re scared. Scared but resilient.

A Prayer for Our Uncertain Times

May we who are merely inconvenienced remember those whose lives are at stake.
May we who have no risk factors remember those most vulnerable.
May we who have the luxury of working from home remember those who must choose between preserving their health and making their rent.
May we who have the flexibility to care for our children when their schools close remember those who have no options.
May we who have to cancel our trips remember those who have no safe place to go.
May we who are losing our margin money in the tumult of the economic market remember those who have no margin at all.
May we who settle in for a quarantine at home remember those who have no home.
As fear grips our country, let us choose love.
And during this time when we may not be able to physically wrap our arms around each other, let us yet find ways to be the loving embrace of God to our neighbors. Amen.

  1. Are we seeking information to calm our fears, or are we inviting God into our fears? Are we stuck in What If? or have we moved to Even If!
Consider: "For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain." (Philippians 1:21) and, "Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation." (Habakkuk 3:18)
Do we serve the God who created all things, who is not surprised by anything, who makes all things work together for his purposes? If that is what our mouths say, look inside to see what our hearts say. Know that while we are practicing social distancing, and self-quarantining, and washing our hands more frequently, we are being prudent in the face of pandemic.
However, am I frantically searching for the next announcement from this doctor or that research institution, or am I resting in the peace that passes all understanding, knowing I am following the guidelines that our established earthly authorities have set for us, while I am trusting in our Creator?
In the sure knowledge that a sparrow does not fall from the tree without our Heavenly Father knowing, open your Bible and refresh yourself in the Word of God. I encourage you to start with Psalm 91, then Hebrews 11. Take as much time as you need to savor each word and phrase. Feel free to journal - consider it a conversation between you and God.
As you are fed, you can feed others by praying for wisdom, discernment, and direction, and continuing to feed yourself by speaking out loud against thoughts and feelings of fear: "I will not fear, and I will not make decisions based on fear. This battle is the Lord's and I put my trust in Him!" Finally, declare God's Word and His promises over the world; remembering that the Sword of the Spirit (the Word of God) is our only offensive weapon against the attacks of the devil. Speak the Word aloud and rest in the only peace that satisfies, that which comes from knowing God as our Lord and Savior. God bless you!

  2. Praise Report. James spoke with Well Member Fran today who took a serious fall a week ago and we have been praying for her. She is in her 80's and lives alone. He spoke with her again today and it's the first day she has felt better and was able to move her neck slightly. She said to thank everyone for their prayers and is so grateful we are checking up on her.

  3. I spoke with our dear friend and Board member, Dotti, today who is also a valued KGM local business partner as the founder of Friends Needing Friends Widow ministry. She asked me to request prayers for her son Danny and his son (her grandson) Alan Israel. Danny is a nurse in the ER at JFK hospital for 15 years. Alan is in the service studying to be a physician who has been assigned to the same ER and is transporting patients to different locations in the hospital. We are so grateful for these first responders who are also family. Please keep them and Dotti in your prayers.

  4. I am asking for prayer or myself and two ladies that I drive to Dr.appointments & other errands. Claire & Ginger are in their 90's. They both live alone, but are very independent and a bit stubborn. (I guess that's how they got to be 90+) please pray that we are safe from illness during our brief outings.
    Thank you for your prayers.

  6. Wanted to pass on this prayer I found online. Sometimes when words fail us God provides them through someone else.

    A Coronavirus Prayer

Jesus Christ, you traveled through towns and villages “curing every disease and illness.” At your command, the sick were made well. Come to our aid now, in the midst of the global spread of the coronavirus, that we may experience your healing love.

Heal those who are sick with the virus. May they regain their strength and health through quality medical care.

Heal us from our fear, which prevents nations from working together and neighbors from helping one another.

Heal us from our pride, which can make us claim invulnerability to a disease that knows no borders.

Jesus Christ, healer of all, stay by our side in this time of uncertainty and sorrow.

Be with those who have died from the virus. May they be at rest with you in your eternal peace.

Be with the families of those who are sick or have died. As they worry and grieve, defend them from illness and despair. May they know your peace.

Be with the doctors, nurses, researchers and all medical professionals who seek to heal and help those affected and who put themselves at risk in the process. May they know your protection and peace.

Be with the leaders of all nations. Give them the foresight to act with charity and true concern for the well-being of the people they are meant to serve. Give them the wisdom to invest in long-term solutions that will help prepare for or prevent future outbreaks. May they know your peace, as they work together to achieve it on earth.

Whether we are home or abroad, surrounded by many people suffering from this illness or only a few, Jesus Christ, stay with us as we endure and mourn, persist and prepare. In place of our anxiety, give us your peace.

    Jesus Christ, heal us.
