 INDIAN CHILDREN  WILL TURN 15 THIS YEAR

KGM churches do everything possible to reach these kids long before they reach that age through their Vacation Bible School and Sunday School programs.

Why? Because research says four out of five people who believe in Jesus are influenced by someone or something by the age of 14.

HALF OF INDIA'S POPULATION IS CHILDREN

India is going through a terrific time of change. It’s the second most populated nation in the world with 1.3 billion people and a strong economy. In the midst of these growing pains, the church in India has gone through tremendous change as well. As the church continues to grow, it struggles to keep up with the many needs of its people – especially the children. Today, India has 650 million people below the age of 25. HALF it’s population is kids! So reaching them is very important.

HOW GOD IS REACHING CHILDREN IN INDIA

In India, sharing your faith is risky. Adult discipleship is carefully taught using tools like the Bible Story Scarf. But with children, the church has a secret weapon - Vacation Bible School (VBS) and Sunday School. 

VBS THE DOOR OPENER

VBS has been a church practice in India for hundreds of years! It’s not only accepted, it’s wildly popular - loved and anticipated each year by Indian parents and children alike. In fact, VBS generates as much excitement in India as Christmas does here. And it’s the only nationwide Christian evangelistic event that’s escaped persecution. 

Over 70% of the kids who attend are not Christians.

In rural areas where wages are so small that most children have to drop out of school and go to work so the family can eat, VBS provides a one-week celebration where kids get to be – well - kids again! 

                                   

To children it’s like a dream come true - no working in the fields, just a week filled with making new friends, Bible stories, fun action songs, and yummy food.

VBS becomes a door opener for weekly or biweekly pastor visits to the homes of children who attend VBS. 

As time goes on, the entire family is invited to church. Most of the kids who accepted Christ at VBS now attend KGM churches, and some of their families do too.

SUNDAY SCHOOL LEADS TO ENTIRE FAMILIES HEARING ABOUT JESUS

VBS allows pastor-missionaries and leaders, like Jessica (below) to build relationships with the children. 

Many times these friendships influence families to attend church services where the kids can go to Sunday School. 

There these boys and girls are introduced to Jesus and when they share what they’ve learned at home, entire families come to know Christ.

 

Jessica, Dr. Simon's daughter, is a leader in the Children’s Ministry.

Most of these kids come from oral cultures, people who learn best through the oral arts of storytelling, music, dance, and drama.

Like VBS, in Sunday School the kids learn stories about Jesus through Biblical action songs, games, drama skits, and prayers.

KGM Children's Ministry is an important part of its church planting and outreach efforts to people who have never heard of Jesus. 

HOW YOU CAN HELP

Funding for KGM Children's Ministries year-round is done by supplementing believer tithes through KGM USA's FOUNTAIN COMMUNITY where partners pool their resources so our pastor- missionaries are equipped to do outreach work to non-Christian families in their villages and pioneer work in new villages. 

You can also attend or contribute gifts to our Annual Dessert Dash for VBS event held every year in the Spring to raise extra funds specifically for Vacation Bible School outreach. 

WHERE DOES MY MONEY GO?

Your monthly gift of ANY amount goes directly to the mission field and supplements believer tithes to help KGM churches, led by native pastors, reach out to new villages who have never heard of Jesus.

HOW MUCH SHOULD I GIVE?
In this community, it doesn’t matter how much someone can give. It’s all about what God can accomplish through us when we work together. The Fountain Community partners commit to give a regular monthly amount, whatever God lays on their hearts, and agree to pool all these resources into one fund that helps our pastors plant more churches in new villages. Fountain members are currently providing funds for 83 KGM churches.
